Spotlight Designs by SD started out as a hobby. Back in 2002 I had just moved to Boston and was introduced to the world of jewelry making by a co- worker.  I quickly became interested in the Art and I wanted to learn how to do it, so I started going to local bead stores with my co- worker and I would take home what I had purchased and just "tinker" around stringing beads and bending wires to make my own necklaces and bracelets. Much of what I learned in the early days was done by hands on learning and playing with the materials. I used to look at already made pieces that were purchased from stores and figure out how they were made and try and recreate them, with my own personal twist of course!  Much of what I knew in the beginning was learned in this way.  I then started to read beading magazines and other peoples blogs. I even tried to watch tutorials on the Web, but I never found much success with those .  I seemed to learn much better through trial and error. I have been making my own jewelry since 2002 and I have  gained  a wealth of knowledge so far.   However,  I am  still constantly learning new techniques and improving my skills, the education is never ending.

Fast forward to 2021 and I have been operating my own boutique and bead bar in Everett, MA all by myself, a 1 woman show!  My goal is to put Handmade in the Spotlight by way of my Boutique store or through Education and my Bead Bar.
